Robbed! A whole village and a range of mountains disappear overnight.

You saw a bit of cloud coming up the valley in the last post, but who woulda thunk that it would turn into this - second pic - in the Canary Islands, in August.

(It is only the unsightly overhead cables - a subject for a future rant, if ever there were one - that proves this is indeed basically the same view.)

Apparently, this was a tropical front that caused freak storms, which drooped more water on the islands that anyone can remember. It is definitely not normal and even the meteorologists and the local government were taken by surprise by it.

After the tornado in Birmingham in July, I joked that the next freak weather report would be “Hell freezing over”. Let me tell you, this weather was about as likely.
