Noticed this the other day when I was messing with my Gmail settings and it is a very useful feature for those of us who have “multiple personalities”, i.e. multiple sites.
For some time, I have already had all my mail forwarded to and filtered through Gmail, but previously, when replying, I would have to remember to change the send address to whichever was appropriate for that correspondence.
Well, I should say tried to. This was not idiot proof! 
Now Gmail will automatically reply from the same address that the message was sent to. (You have to set up your addresses first to be allowed to send from alternatives.)
