The Jungle Marketer, Guido Stiehle, has written a a short step by step guide to posting to your WordPress blog by e-mail.
You might prefer this method in general, but the real beauty of setting this up is so you can automate your work. He says, “If you want to post a series of articles over a certain period of time on auto-pilot in order to create an automatic constant growth of your website to please the search engines, an easy way would be to setup a new follow-up autoresponder and enter all your articles as a follow-up sequence.”
Posting to your WordPress blog by e-mail
NB: If you use Blogger’s API (whether your blog is on their hosting or on your own website hosting), you can do the same thing.
In this case you would set up your “secret” posting address in your Blogger Dashboard, under Settings, Email, as shown here:

There is no other setup needed on your site.
You would make the address you set up here as the only “subscriber” to the autoresponder you are using to create this system. One of the problems that Guido highlighted is that autoresponders usually have unsubscribe links and other unwanted items at their foot. His guide shows you how to avoid this if you are using WordPress.
If you use Blogger, it is a simple matter. Blogger’s guide, How do I post via email?, advises: “Sometimes email programs append text to the bottom of each sent message; to make sure this cruft doesn’t get posted to your blog, put #end at the end of your post.”
Mail-to-Blogger does not support images or other attachments, so if you want to include any in your posts, you will need to upload those at the preparation stage and include links within the post.
You may need to test the formatting though. Text posts fine, but this can not include live links. Proper HTML is usually rendered as code, which is also not the desired result. Psuedo-HTML, the kind like Outlook Express generated Rich Text usually posts fine to Blogger.
