Eric Giguere and I share a common pet hate here: I cannot tell you how much time I have wasted over the years stripping out useless, unnecessary code from “ready-made” templates, sales pages for resell products and the like. Sometimes it is so bad that it might be easier to copy the text and start the page from scratch. And I still see them, frequently, with totally outdated and no longer supported HTML tags.
Either they write these pages in Microsoft Word, or worse, make them with Microsoft Frontpage. The result of this is that often, the code is so screwed up that pages will not display at all, or are a total mess in browsers other than Internet Explorer.
Now, it should be obvious that, if a page does not show up in a person’s browser, they are not going to read what’s there or buy what’s on offer. Point is, if these “gurus” are too lazy or ignorant to check or to provide better, what is the average beginner doing? Nothing at all, I presume, which will undoubtedly lead to disappointing results, but without learning how to fix it, they’ll never know why.
Do all Internet marketers write their sales pages with Microsoft Word?
