FlatPress: The Database-Less WordPress

Wednesday, January 10, 2007 | Permalink |

The main barrier for bloggers wanting to swap (some might call it an upgrade) from Blogger to self-hosted WordPress is the technical requirements. It is slated as a five minute installation, but I think the biggest psychological barrier for many a non-techie is the need to set up a MySQL database.

The term alone evokes fear in the normally fearless!

Recognizing that there is always an “opportunity cost”, i.e. that ?flat files are painfully SLOW?, this may be an alternative for those who prefer not to leap the psychological hurdle.
