Bloggers Blog report that, “A couple months ago there was a rumor that Yahoo had purchased MyBlogLog for about $10 million. It turned out to be not true. Now Forbes.com reports that Yahoo has purchased MyBlogLog for real.”
I read a prediction somewhere else recently that this year MyBlogLog would take off and I could see merit in that, even though I had missed the previous purchase rumours.
The social networking and community features that MyBlogLog provide are something that I am only just bothering with (as Bloggers Blog have done, you can see some of the recent visitors to this blog on the right side of the page), but the stats are something I have found invaluable for some time.
Watching what search terms people use, what pages they visit and where they go next, makes it much easier to discover what people want, so I can provide “more of the same.”
Acquisitions by big companies can be double-edged swords, however, I have happily noted no deterioration in Flickr, which I also love and use extensively, since Yahoo acquired it, so I look forward to their future with MyBlogLog.
