BoingBoing write that, “The Get Rich Slowly blog has scans from a 1938 book called Money Making Hobbies. The projects in them are funny, but I doubt anyone made a dime after reading this book.” Well, that shows you how little has changed, even when these things became digitized.
Mind you, while we still probably can’t imagine people buying surrealistic Corrugated Cardboard Animals, I’ll bet that if you had asked people in 1938 if they thought that people in the 21st Century would buy, basically, bits of “digital fresh air”, they too would have laughed like drains.
The moral really, aside from the pure entertainment value that works such as this now provide us, is that a lot is actually possible with innovation and creativity. And, of course, that there is no accounting for some people’s taste!
