Digressing in a post on his blog from Jan 14, about U2 and Bono, Brian may says:

“Sometimes I wish I could use more of the power that we have for good. It seems that politicians on the whole have to make too many compromises to get to power, so cannot be pure in intentions once they have it. And it does seem that politics is a magnet for the wrong kind of human being anyway. The quiet, thoughtful, caring ones do not get the power of a party behind them. The bullies do.”
