A little while ago, Rosalind Gardner asked what bugs people most about affiliate programs. One of the suggestions she gave was Chicken Scratch Commissions.
That amused me at the time, because I really had just been sent notification of a 0.02 cent commission from WebRing. Sure, I belong to some rings and even manage a couple, but I don’t promote these to try to earn commissions.
Look what I got today:
“We’re just letting you know that we’ve credited your account $0.0266666666666667 because at least one new qualifying member has signed up for WebRing through your website and has become active in a ring.”
Gee wizz, is that a pay rise?
Where shall I spend my 0.0066666666666667 of cent?
Heck, I suppose it says something to be able to get to the point where one earns commissions without trying (and I do earn a few more that are more impressive amounts.)
