Can you offset your cats flatulence?

If I didn’t know better, I’d say that those Australians were even crazier than us Brits after reading this story, Green answer is blowing in the wind, which begins:

“If you own a cat, you know the smelly truth: they break wind and it’s foul. Not only that, it harms the planet.”

This is partly true. There is a reason I call Balu, “Fluffy” and it is merely coincidental that he also has a lot of hair.

When the little bugger was a kid, he was the most “flatulent feline” on the planet. Goodness knows, he must have been chewing on cabbage leaves out in the wild. :)

He has also had the habit, ever since he was old enough to crawl, of stretching up on my lap, putting his “arms” around my neck and “kissing” me on the lips. You know what’s coming, don’t you? Yes, the action of stretching is very good at releasing pent up gas. And I swear he knew it too and almost giggled as my face would turn putrid green!

He grew out of the farting part, thankfully, once his system adjusted to a regular, healthy diet. And the problem is easy enough to overcome in dogs with those mixed biscuits that include black - carbon - ones. The same goes for humans.

By which I mean, that you can get carbon biscuits from health stores, not that you should eat the doggie ones! :)

I’m not at all convinced that one little farting feline is going to make a hole in the ozone layer. No, I retract that, having been on the receiving end of Fluffy’s foul flatulence, he alone could probably cause the melting of both ice caps …

Then there was the time that the late Cleo let out the longest, loudest fart I have ever heard emanate from either man or beast - poor thing, she was a black cat, but I could still see her blush - shortly after she had given birth.

Now you can offset your cats greenhouse emissions for $8 (AUD) a month and make your cat “carbon-neutral”.

“No longer will Kitty be a burden on the planet. Your moggy will no longer vote for George W Bush nor watch Fox News with the Easy Being Green Package …”
