The Internet is Closed

You know, one day, we’re going to wake up to that message, unless we speak out - or vote accordingly - to retain what we have.

Hot on the heels of restrictions that Australia and France have or will implement, the Great Firewall has now blocked another 1.8 million LiveJournal blogs in China and Turkey bans YouTube access.

We have family in Turkey and, much as I hope the situation will change, I keep trying to tell my mother why I could not go there and do what I do online now. Today YouTube, tomorrow …. Who the heck knows?

Turkey: YouTube blocked by court order, including a collection of how to tips for routing around internet censorship from broken governments.
