There will be no need to ban water, because “The harmful effects of global warming on daily life are already showing up, and within a couple of decades hundreds of millions of people will not have enough water, top scientists are likely to say next month at a meeting in Belgium.
At the same time, tens of millions of others will be flooded out of their homes each year as the earth reels from rising temperatures and sea levels […] by 2080, hundreds of millions of people could face starvation, according to the report, which is still being revised.”
You know what one of the biggest problems is and, it strikes me every time I read these articles, is that it always says “by the year 2080″ or 2100, or whatever. The only ones of us who will still be around then are small children now. Oh sure, parents try to do their best for them, but there seems to be no convincing global commitment to their future.
The report also says that many, though not all, of those effects can be prevented if we act within a generation. What is it going to take for society to stop praying and start actually doing something, I wonder?
