Illiteracy … the Cause of War, Disease and Starvation

Wednesday, March 14, 2007 | Permalink |

Time and time again, I’ve said that education is THE number one priority in this world. Reasonably educated, thinking, people can take care of themselves better. Period. And it’s just common sense that they will not need to fight like savages to do it, nor have a load of preconceived prejudices that just parrot the words of those around them.

Anyway, I am so glad that Internet Marketing “Guru” (one of the very few who deserves the title), Michael Campbell posted this to his blog:

“The biggest problem facing the world today, the reason why we have wars, the reason why people blindly believe in what others say, is illiteracy.”

There is a lot more I want to say, about governments’ hidden agendas to keep people dumb (i.e. so you ain’t clever enough or strong enough to oppose them), but I’ll leave that for future rants. In the meantime, do read the rest of what Michael posted, because it’s brilliant.
