The Tricks of the Trade blog has a tip for people with mostly-empty freezers, like singles:
Fill any excess freezer room with O.J or milk containers full of water. The less free space you have in your freezer the less it will run, and the more you’ll money save in the long run.
But why just fill the space with “mock items”? Bulk buy and cook in bulk to save time, money and fill that freezer with things you can use.
Preferably food, but the image above made me smile!
