Something I’ve been meaning to explore and tell you about for some time is the Food Social Network site, Group Recipes.
Kristopher, the self-styled “Chief Group Recipes Nerd” wrote to me to tell me about the site and, whilst I perfectly realize that “nerd” and “single” do not have to go together, I thought there may well have been a distinct possibility.
Could I really be rude undiplomatic enough to ask him out straight?
Yup, all in your interests, of course … Kristopher replied that, “I, as well as the other members of the team are single! Sometimes I wish I was cooking for others (and often do for friends), but most of the time I really love cooking for one. Simply because nobody else matters. I can make whatever I want, whenever I want. It is a good feeling.“
Obviously, the site is just as useable by non-singles, but this is as close as you’re gonna get to a dedicated foodie site, “for singles, by singles.”
Also, I love the site, because it’s got a sense of humor, which is reflected in the list of things you can do with the site on their about page, as well as in welcoming messages, such as, “We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you take the 2 minute Taste Test so our prediction algorithm (aka “Roger the Recipe Robot“) can start learning about your taste preferences.”
You can meet new people and you can add your local eateries, as well as your own recipes and browse other people’s recipes for inspiration.
Above all, the whole place makes you feel that food is fun!
PS: You’ll also find My Group Recipes page here, if you’d like to add me as your friend once you’re a member. (Entirely optional, of course.)
