Amazon Launches Contextual Ad System

Thursday, June 21, 2007 | Permalink |

“By adding a snippet of code to a website, Amazon will highlight phrases with associated products in their marketplace and let users navigate to the Amazon website to purchase the item. This appears to be available in both the US and the UK, and for now, it is in beta.”

I’ve been able to get code for Amazon’s contextual ads for quite some time already, so this certainly isn’t new news to everyone. Search Engine Roundtable show you what they look like and ask, “What do you think of these ads?

The question I would add, is do you think they’re more acceptable coming from Amazon (you know them and their products), than from a network where you might get ads from third parties that are not as tasteful?
