Interesting thought provoking post from Darren Rowse. There’s certainly plenty of evidence to show that, no matter how unique we all like to think we are, most people do follow crowds and fashions and buy the latest and most popular things that other people buy.
It therefore makes a lot of sense, from a marketing point of view, to help them along the way by providing bestseller lists. As Darren says, all that’s missing is a way to automate this, but now Darren has said it, maybe someone, if not Amazon themselves, will come up with a means to do it.
And the other thought that crossed my mind, is why stop at Amazon? I’m sure there are many affiliate programs, or even your own products (if you sell many), from which similar lists can be generated.
