After 15 years in Tenerife, home to the world’s biggest, most spectacular and sensational Carnaval, after Rio, the mere idea of a Carnival in Kings Heath, Birmingham (where I also used to live) seems, well side-splittingly funny. The events just don’t compare really.
Somehow, I can’t imagine this old granny dressed up in a huge costume competing for the title of “Senior Citizen Carnival Queen” either, but as the saying goes here, El Carnaval no tiene edad (The carnival does not have [an] age [limit]).
And it’s true about the balloons too: one is never too old!
