Stripy deckchairs, fake palms, a big telly, tacky advertising and bloody great no smoking sign, all in front of a newly unveiled restoration project … The Carribean or the Canary Islands, this ain’t. This is a travesty. Birmingham should concentrate on what it used to do best, markets. Provided it doesn’t think about exporting them to Spanish cities, that is!
