Er hum, how’s about an International Vanilla Ice Cream Day? Anyway, yumsugar tell us that, “Not only is today National Vanilla Ice Cream Day, but it’s the ice cream cone’s birthday as well!” Happy Birthday to it!
Should you happen to be stuck way out in the countryside, too far from a store to get ice cream home (as I am) and you want to make your own, then yumsugar have a most elegant recipe here.
But, if you want something quick and that would make even a single portion of vanilla ice cream in a trice, Lifehacker recently pointed to a fun kids’ project, Bagged ice cream: a seriously simple recipe for making ice cream in a bag that is a summertime delight for both kids and adults alike!

I tried the ice cream in a bag thing once. It was interesting. I got tired of shaking the bag though.
He he, yes 5 minutes doesn’t sound very long, until you have to sit there shaking. I guess the craving has to be strong enough to overcome the pain, but at least it can do a small quantity from mostly available ingredients: the sort of things you’d be likely to have in the cupboard.
Wow…I wish I knew. I guess I can still celebrate late…I love vanilla !
