It would seem like it, wouldn’t it? But no, part of the reason for my absence and the lack of posts has been that I was one of the thousands who were evacuated because of the forest fires in Tenerife last week.
We’ve also been getting intermittent service on DSL, but since coming home, I’ve had a blocked drain to deal with and I don’t think I’ve been off the phone yet. It also seems that there are a lot of things that I am considered useful for: news gathering, translating, finding out if people’s houses have burnt down.
August is usually a slow month and, if it gets hot again, my brain is unlikely to function anyway, so for the rest of the month, at least, I intend to focus only on these local needs and won’t be posting here much, if at all.
Still, if Google’s Matt Cutts can write a post entitled Urgh to explain his absence, I’m sure I can too. And as has been suggested over there, if anyone fancies a stint at making guest posts here, then drop me a note.
Whilst I was too busy running away to get any photos of my own, Andy Williams took some from where he lives, which fortunately, was the other end of the fire (upwind). His third photo, #2 (logically) is pretty much the sky I saw when I was dragged from my bed at 5 a.m. last Tuesday. Rather than repeat myself here, where it doesn’t belong, you can read what I’ve already posted here and, see what kind of disaster we are talking about here.
