“… a sanctified, self-satisfied presumptuousness that flows from sheer naïveté about oneself and the world.” That is something I see in all rightwingers: they simply believe, unquestioningly, their own dogma, which they absolutely accept as fact, not opinion. The worst of it is that as education standards continue to drop and thinking gets less and less encouragement, then this attitude will apply more and more to “average” people the world over.

The UK control and drugs treatment mafia has been a disaster.
Personally I find it abhorrent to place those who become addicted to illegal drugs under psychiatric care, as it reeks of the past and is all to reminiscent of the USSR, where those who were judged by people in positions of power of behaving in an anti social manner, were placed in psychiatric institutions. This group not only included drug addicts and alcoholics, but also political dissidents who refused to accept the Soviet Union was paradise on earth.
